Soviet social poster “Hit!”, was created in 1930 during the anti-alcohol campaign of 1929-1930, when alcohol was declared an enemy of the Soviet country. The author of the poster is the artist V.N. Deni. The poster shows a worker smashing a bottle of alcohol with a hammer, with words “cultural revolution” on it. In the background of the poster there are fuming pipes of the factories and plants, emphasizing the unacceptability of drinking at the workplace. Under the poster is a poem written by Demyan Bedniy:
“So do not joke with booze,
it (booze) needs to be pounded,
Culturally,
Stormy,
Flamingly, angry,
Batter daily,
At every step,
Not to give a respite to the enemy”
