Artist: M. Manuilov
Leonid Georgievich Yengibarov was a Soviet Armenian clown and actor, and a People’s Artist of the Armenian SSR. Often called the “clown with sad eyes,” he became famous for introducing lyrical and poetic elements into the circus, transforming the art of clowning into something deeply expressive and moving. Yengibarov’s performances combined humor with melancholy, creating a new form of stage poetry that captivated audiences across the Soviet Union. Despite his short life, he is remembered as one of the most original and influential clowns of the 20th century.
