All on G 1941

Description:

This Soviet poster is titled “Гиммлер, Геринг, Гитлер, Геббельс – Все на ‘Г’” (“Himmler, Göring, Hitler, Goebbels – All on ‘G’”) and was created in 1941 by Dmitri Moor (Дмитрий Моор). It shows caricatures of four Nazi leaders stacked vertically: Himmler at the top, then Göring, Hitler, and finally Goebbels. Each face is exaggerated and grotesque, emphasizing their corruption and villainy. The text “Все на ‘Г’” (“All on ‘G’”) plays on the fact that in Russian all of their surnames begin with the letter Г (G). This was a deliberate pun, because the Russian slang word “Гавно” (gavno) – which also starts with G – means “shit,” similar to using the S-word in English without fully spelling it out. Thus, the poster equates the Nazi leaders’ names directly with filth and worthlessness, combining biting satire with visual mockery. On the right side of the poster, the sequence of Г letters is shown: first “one G,” then “another G,” then “a third G,” and finally a swastika forms from the fourth, visually linking their names and identities to the Nazi symbol itself. This clever combination of caricature, wordplay, and symbolism delivers both satire and condemnation in a single striking image.
