Time-tested over decades of use by the hardy Russians to withstand their harsh winters. Made in Russia from the highest quality locally manufactured materials only! Great and useful gift for Christmas!
This Soviet propaganda poster was designed by Gustav Klutsis in 1934, one of the most prominent masters of photomontage and political art of the Stalin era. The poster proclaims: “All Moscow is building the Metro” and at the bottom: “By the 17th anniversary of the October Revolution, we will deliver the first line of the best metro in the world.”
Through the use of photomontage, Klutsis combines the image of a heroic worker-soldier with scenes of construction and the grand architectural vision of the underground stations. The striking red line symbolizes the route of the first metro line, visually connecting labor and progress. The work reflects the Soviet state’s ambition to present the Moscow Metro not just as public transport, but as a symbol of socialist achievement, modernity, and collective effort.
